let it all out
Tuesday, September 01, 2009
Everyone's waiting for me to write something about Turkey. I've been here for 10 days, isn't it about time?
the memories that you select
and even though I'm angry I can still say
I know my heart will break the day
when you peel out and drive away
I can't believe this happened
And all this time I never thought
that all we had would be all for naught
No, I don't hate you
don't want to fight you
know I'll always love you
but right now I just don't like you
No, I don't hate you
don't want to fight you
know I'll always love you
but right now I just don't like you
cause you took this too far
Make your decision and don't you dare think twice
go with your instincts along with some bad advice
this didn't turn out the way I thought it would at all
you blame me but some of this is still your fault
I tried to move you, but you just wouldn't budge
I tried to hold your hand but you'd rather hold your grudge
I think you know what I'm getting at
you said goodbye and I just don't want you regretting that
don't want to fight you
know I'll always love you
but right now I just don't like you
No, I don't hate you
don't want to fight you
know I'll always love you
but right now I just don't like you
cause you took this too far
these black eyes and these bruises
over the heartache that they say
never completely goes away
(I just can't believe this happened
and one day we'll see this come around)
No, I don't hate you
don't want to fight you
know I'll always love you
but right now I just don't like you
No, I don't hate you
don't want to fight you
know I'll always love you
but right now I just don't like you
cause you took this too far
i heard that it's me we should blame
what happened to us
why didn't you stop me from turning out this way
and know that I don't hate you
and know that I don't want to fight you
and know that I'll always love you
but right now I just don't...
Let it all out
get it all out
rip it out remove it
don't be alarmed
when the wound begins to bleed
cause we're so scared to find out
what this life's all about
so scared we're going to lose it
not knowing all along
that's exactly what we need
and today I will trust you with the confidence
of a man who's never known defeat
but tomorrow, upon hearing what I did
I will stare at you in disbelief
oh, inconsistent me
crying out for consistency
and You said "I know that this will hurt
but if I don't break your heart then things will just get worse
If the burden seems too much to bear
Remember
the end will justify the pain it took to get us there"
and I'll let it be known
at times I have shown
signs of all my weakness
but somewhere in me
there is strength
and you promise me
that you believe
in time I will defeat this
cause somewhere in me
there is strength
and today I will trust you with the confidence
of a man who's never known defeat
and I'll try my best to just forget
that that Man isn't me
and You said "I know that this will hurt
but if I don't break your heart then things will just get worse
If the burden seems too much to bear
Remember
the end will justify the pain it took to get us there"
make my heart brand new
every beat will be for you
for You
and I know you know
you touched my life
when you touched my heavy heart and made it light

"Take full possession."
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
Here's another quote from AC's If that I've chewed on for a couple of weeks:
No vision of the night can show, no word declare, with what longings of love Divine Love waits till the heart, all weary and sick of itself, turns to its Lord and says, "Take full possession." There is no need to plead that the love of God shall fill our heart as though He were unwilling to fill us: He is willing as light is willing to flood a room that is opened to its brightness; willing as water is willing to flow into an emptied channel. Love is pressing around us on all sides like air. Cease to resist, and instantly love takes possession. As the 15th century poem Quia amore langues says,Long and love thou never so high,My love is more than thine may be.More, far more. For as His abundance of pardon passes our power to tell it, so does His abundance of love: it is far as the east is from the west, high as the heaven is above the earth. But words fail. Love soars above them all.To look at ourselves leads to despair. Thank God, the Blood cleanseth. If thou be foul, I shall make thee clean,If thou be sick, I shall thee heal.Foundest thou ever love so leal*?Never, Lord, never.

How can I keep from singing?
Saturday, July 18, 2009
I like both of these...
Above earth's lamentation,
I catch the sweet, tho' far-off hymn
That hails a new creation.
Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear the music ringing;
It finds an echo in my soul--
How can I keep from singing?
What tho' my joys and comfort die?
The Lord my Saviour liveth;
What tho' the darkness gather round?
Songs in the night he giveth.
No storm can shake my inmost calm,
While to that refuge clinging;
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?
I lift my eyes; the cloud grows thin;
I see the blue above it;
And day by day this pathway smooths,
Since first I learned to love it.
The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
A fountain ever springing;
All things are mine since I am his--
How can I keep from singing?
Echoes in my soul
I hear the music ring
And though the storms may come
I am holding on
To the rock I cling
How can I keep from singing Your praise
How can I ever say enough
How amazing is Your love
How can I keep from shouting Your name
I know I am loved by the King
And it makes my heart want to sing
I will lift my eyes
In the darkest night
For I know my Savior lives
And I will walk with You
Knowing You'll see me through
And sing the songs You give
I can sing in the troubled times
Sing when I win
I can sing when I lose my step
And fall down again
I can sing 'cause You pick me up
Sing 'cause You're there
I can sing 'cause You hear me, Lord
When I call to You in prayer
I can sing with my last breath
Sing for I know
That I'll sing with the angels
And the saints around the throne

other things I've wanted to blog about
Wednesday, July 15, 2009
- My tribute to Michael Jackson: a clip from a made-for-internet movie that we watched in my Chinese media class: "007 vs. the Man in Black"
- World Vision's report on human trafficking
- "Pastor Dad" - an e-booklet by Mark Driscoll
- A quote from AC's If: "If a sudden jar can cause me to speak an impatient, unloving word, then I know nothing of Calvary love. For a cup brimful of sweet water cannot spill even a drop of bitter water, however suddenly jolted."
- I went skydiving with my dad! You can tell from the pictures that I had fun!
- My roommate Erin is getting married soon! Woohoo! Congrats Erin!
- Facebook again is crazy. Appropriate behavior is difficult for me. The balance between misuse and avoiding community is hard for me to find. But my accountability partner Christina has internet access again, and she has been really good helping me. And I really appreciate the support I've gotten from CESL friends (especially all you gila Indonesians!) and the encouragement from Villagers ^_^. And even better~ Romans 6:1-2 "What shall I say then? Shall I go on misusing time via Facebook so that grace may abound? By no means! I died to misusing time via Facebook; how can I live misusing time via Facebook any longer?"
- I had a great time in Irvine last month with my friends and I'm really looking forward to Seattle next week with Natsuko!
- I will leave for Turkey on August 20th and will arrive on August 21st. The 21st is the night the month of Ramadan starts. I'm excited to get to experience Ramadan in an Islamic country, especially Eid! (the celebration at the end of the fast)
- So this is somewhat old news but it made me happy. The kid actors of Slumdog Millionaire Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail and Rubina Ali who have still been living in slums are being taken care of.

- Satan hates me. But he's defeated. Thank You, Jesus.
- 2 things I'm really not good at: saying goodbye, and knowing what to do/say when my friends' relationships break up. :( I've tried to blog about goodbyes many many times and still can't express everything. I hate it.
- The Book of Acts is fascinating.

my prayer journal
Tuesday, July 14, 2009
I finished filling up this prayer journal a few weeks ago. I'm grateful for the time I've had to pray, causing it to fill up fast, but I wish I had more time with it; the design had so much character! I still remember my thought process when I bought it...
